Urd is the daughter of Belldandy and Skuld's father (a Heaven-born angel) and Hild (The Devil), making her half-angel and half-demon, and the Biblical Antichrist. Despite this, she openly embraces her angel half and rejects her demon half, seeing herself (and being seen by others) as an angel. The Norn sisters Urd and Skuld are also represented in the stories: Urd is the older sister scheming ways to get Keiichi and Belldandy to move their relationship to the next level, while Skuld is the younger sister who disapproves of the relationship (being afraid she would lose her sister forever). The concept of Belldandy draws loosely from Norse mythology, with "Belldandy" being a transliteration of the Old Norse Verðandi, one of a trio of Norns. She is joined by characters representing the other two of the trio of Norns — her sisters Urd and Skuld. Belldandy: Urd and Megumi are good friends, actually, but they're a little competitive because they have similar interests.
